AFTERBURN

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20 June 2026

Afterburn is an iOS game made by Grappe ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the game collects, why, and who it's shared with — in plain language.

The short version

What we collect & why

Account & display name. You're identified only by an anonymous account ID and a display name you choose — your Game Center nickname, or a "pilot name" you type if you play without Game Center. We never receive your real name, email address, or any contact details. Your display name and scores are shown publicly on the leaderboards, so please don't use your real name if you'd rather stay private.

Scores & game progress. Your best score and the number of platforms you reached are submitted to our leaderboards so you can be ranked against other players.

Approximate location. To place you on your local boards (city, region, country, and continent), the game determines your approximate location in one of two ways:

If neither is available, your score simply competes on the worldwide board only.

Ads

Afterburn shows occasional full-screen ads between runs, served by Google AdMob. We keep them light and frequency-capped, and they never appear during a run or on a new-best score.

We don't track you across apps. Afterburn does not request App Tracking Transparency permission and does not use your device's Advertising Identifier (IDFA) for cross-app tracking — so the ads you see are non-personalized and you won't get a "tracking" prompt.

To deliver ads, cap how often you see them, and prevent fraud, Google AdMob processes limited technical data such as your IP address (for coarse, country-level relevance and fraud prevention), ad-request and device information, and your interactions with the ads. This processing is governed by Google's policies.

EU/UK consent. Before showing ads to players in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we present Google's consent form. You can accept or refuse. If you refuse, no ads are shown to you — you keep playing ad-free.

In-app purchase

Afterburn offers one optional, one-time purchase — "Buy Me a Coffee" — that removes all ads forever (and supports the developer). It's entirely optional; the game is free and fully playable without it.

Purchases are handled by Apple's App Store — we never see or store your payment details. To remember your purchase across your devices, we store a single "ads removed" flag in your own private iCloud (Apple's key-value storage, tied to your Apple ID). That flag lives in your iCloud account, not on our servers, and contains no personal information.

Third-party services

Afterburn relies on a small number of services to run the leaderboards. Each handles data under its own privacy policy:

What we don't do

Where your data is stored

The data we store — your leaderboard entries and anonymous account — is hosted on Google Firebase servers located in the European Union. The third-party services listed above (such as Apple Game Center) operate their own infrastructure under their respective privacy policies.

Keeping & deleting your data

Leaderboard entries are kept so the rankings stay meaningful. If you'd like us to delete your data, email afterburn.game@gmail.com and we'll remove your entries.

Children's privacy

Afterburn is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The ads we show are non-personalized and we do not use cross-app tracking. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes & contact

We may update this policy from time to time; the "last updated" date above will reflect any change.
